Dewey-Humboldt, which was incorporated in 2004, sits below a backdrop of mountain ranges in the high desert. Snow falls on the community in the peak winter months, but warm weather quickly follows, lasting nearly eight months. Sunflowers appear around its residents' homes by summer time. They're also in close proximity to Prescott and Prescott Valley, both are less than half an hour away, but Dewey-Humboldt's 6,000 plus residents appreciate their exclusivity and pride themselves on their heritage.
Humboldt's history revolved around the Iron King Mine from the 1860's until the late 1960's. It produced millions of dollars worth of lead and zinc. Today, Dewey-Humboldt is a growing residential community, with the housing industry overshadowing the earlier days. Even though farming and mining are no longer visible or operational, their history lives on.
Wide open spaces, rolling hills and a rural development plan of residential lots greater than ½ acres to 1.6 acres or greater, maintains this rural setting that has been represented by 100 years of farming.
